Tomislav Tomašević was born in Zagreb in 1982. He graduated from the Faculty of Political Science in 2010. In 2013, he received his Master’s Degree in the field of Environment, Society and Development from the University of Cambridge. At the age of 16, he joined the Green Action (Zelena akcija), where he performed the duty of President from 2007 to 2012. He was also the President of the Croatian Youth Network (Mreža mladih Hrvatske) and, at the same time, a member of the Youth Council (Savjet za mlade) of the Government of the Republic of Croatia. In 2006, he participated in the launch of the initiative Right to the City (Pravo na grad) and from 2012 to 2015 he was member of the Sustainable Development and Environmental Protection Council of the Government of the Republic of Croatia. He had not been a member of any party until the founding of Zagreb is Ours! (Zagreb je naš!) on whose list he entered the City Assembly in 2017. He was elected Mayor of the City of Zagreb on 30 May 2021 in direct election.
